The Ithaca College Library uses the Library of Congress (LOC) classification system to organize our books as do most academic libraries in the United States. If you're familiar with the Dewey Decimal System used in many of the public libraries in the U.S., you'll find that the LOC system takes a bit of getting used to. Generally speaking, the Library of Congress Classification system organizes literature by country of origin, and century.
