Items Owned by the Library

There are a couple of ways to add citations to your reading list.

If you're working within Leganto:

  1. Click the blue + button and navigate to the desired resource using the Search tab
    •
  2. Click Add; its citation now shows up in your reading list
  3. From the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of the citation, click Send to Library

Items Owned by You (Personal Reserves)

  1. Click the blue + button and then the Create tab
    •
  2. Select an appropriate Type, then fill in any necessary fields
    •
  3. Click Add; its citation now shows up in your reading list
  4. From the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of the citation, click Send to Library
  5. Deliver the personal reserve item to the library circulation desk at your convenience; we'll only be able to process the request once we have the item
  6. Here is a link to a video which shows the process of adding an instructor owned book to a reading list

Book Chapters and Excerpts

To request that library staff upload a chapter or less than 10% of a book (in compliance with copyright guidelines) and then put the book itself on reserve:

  1. Click Add & Edit instead of Add when adding a new citation, or Edit item from the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of a citation that is already added
  2. In the Total Pages field, type the requested chapter or excerpt (e.g. "Chapter 3," "9-20," "4-10 & 17-23")
    • You can type the chapter or excerpt request in other fields (for instance, previous documentation referred folks to the Resource Notes field), but putting it under Total Pages allows it to show up as part of the citation in the reading list
  3. Click Save
  4. From the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of the citation, click Send to library

To request that we upload a chapter or excerpt without putting the whole book on reserve:

  1. Click Add & Edit instead of Add when adding a new citation, or Edit item from the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of a citation that is already added
  2. Change the Type to Book Chapter, Document, or other relevant option
    • For Book Chapter, you'll need to type a new title
  3. Enter the chapter number or excerpt in any relevant field
  4. Click Save
  5. From the ellipsis menu on the right-hand side of the citation, click Send to library

In General

Citations sent to the library for processing show a status of "Sent."

Citations for books that have been successfully put on reserve will display "Complete, Available at IC Library Circulation Desk Reserves."

Citations for chapters or excerpts that have been successfully uploaded by library staff will display "Complete" with a download cloud icon. If the item type is listed as Book Chapter, Document, etc., the book from which we scanned will not be put on reserve. If the item type is listed as Book, we'll put the book on reserve, too.
