Sources of Industry Research Reports
- StatistaSearch by the name of the industry you are interested in. You may then limit geographically to specific countries. Be sure to look at the dossiers which contain detailed reports.
- NetAdvantage (S&P)From Standard & Poors, this database contains industry surveys, and other information for business research and analysis. Click on Research on the blue bar (on top), then choose Report Type, Industry Overview, Choose at least the last 6 months.
- NetAdvantage (YouTube)How to access Industry Surveys in NetAdvantage.
- NetAdvantage Industry SurveysCovers different broad industries. Useful in that the analysis is independent, in-depth and gives a standardized way to look at each industry including a Porter's 5 Forces Analysis and suggested major sources for each industry.
- Business Insights (Gale) (Formerly known as Business Insights: Essentials)Go to Industries tab and chose Plunkett's Reports. There are also Market Share Reports and Industry Essays.
- Business Source Premier (EBSCO)Limit by "publication type"-industry Profile. Choose Subject or IC NAiCS Code and then you can limit by Geography-United States. Reports are by Marketline.
- ABI/INFORM Collection (ProQuest)Choose document type (middle of page), industry report, limit by location, choose Include United States-US, Apply. Then search by name of industry in Document title. You can also search by NAICS code. Reports are by First Research and Plunkett Analytics.
- Bloomberg Industry Analysis GuideThis is a link to a guide about Bloomberg. You will need to set up an account following the directions on the guide. Then log into the Bloomberg terminal(s) in either the Trading Room in the Business School or the Library and follow the directions on the guide. Bloomberg covers over 100 industries.
- Industry Research Reports from Valuationresources.comThe resource guides listed provide sources for industry information, research, and analysis for more than 400 industries. Individual guides for each of these industries identify resources available from trade associations, research firms, and other sources, with resource categories referenced in these guides including industry analysis, statistics, trends, and forecasts, financial statements and financial ratios, and compensation and salary survey. Some of these resources are free and others are available in databases which IC may not subscribe to.
