The Haṭha Yoga Project is a five-year (2015-2020) research project funded by the European Research Council and based at SOAS, University of London which aims to chart the history of physical yoga practice by means of philology, i.e. the study of texts on yoga, and ethnography, i.e. fieldwork among practitioners of yoga.
An educational platform dedicated to providing the highest quality research and reliable online courses and trainings—in yoga history, philosophy, and Sanskrit language—for yoga teachers and students around the world.
The project examines the histories of yoga, ayurveda and rasaśāstra (Indian alchemy and iatrochemistry) from the tenth century to the present, focussing on the disciplines' health, rejuvenation and longevity practices.
The Luminescent aims to be the world's leading source of Yoga research, providing original research from primary sources. They are an independent collaborative hub for scholars, researchers, teachers and practitioners of Yoga, and offer a place to share the latest academic thinking in the form of short-form articles, essays, book reviews, visual and material evidence, talks, interviews, and online courses.
