TVDM 21500: Fiction Field Production

About this Guide

Use this guide as a resource for researching information for your shoot, including: costumes, set location, weather, and period culture such as photographs or images (pre-production research). You will need legal information if you are adapting a historic fairy tale or story (copyright resources).  You may need the myths, fairy tale or the story itself (story ideas).  Or, you may need history books and scholarly articles on your story topic (pre-production research). If you are adapting ideas from the headlines, you will need access to news files. You may even need company and industry news (Variety & THR).

The guide includes how-to books and videos on editing, production, and direction (How to).  In addition to facilitating this research, the guide also lists things that will help you develop by example: screenplays, interviews with great directors, and a list of great films to watch by some of the worlds great directors -- available to you from Ithaca College Library (Filmmakers on Filmmaking)

The research you do in advance will show in the quality of your production.  Contact me for assistance!
