Mitigate harm on our LGBTQ patrons by addressing LC classification of LGBTQ topics under “sexual deviance.”

- Ask subject specialists to review and weed HQ (Done 2023 10 10)
- Consider marketing retrieval service for impacted patrons. Discussion with Ben Hogben and Virgilio Pinto. (Done ca 2023 09 18)

- Consultation with Director of the Center for LGBT Education, Outreach, & Services for input from affected folks (Done 2023 10 23)
- As per Director Dalfonzo, consider shifting/adding to our focus on reclassification to include lobbying the Library of Congress about changing their classification system.

- Further research reveals that Library of Congress now classifies LGBTQIA+ subjects under “Sexual Activity” – adjacent to “Sexual practices outside the norm” (no longer “Sexual deviance”) and not subordinate to it. We see no harm in this arrangement. (Done 2024 01 11)
