Library Services for International Students

Welcome, Bienvenue, 欢迎光临, 환영합니다, Bienvenido

Welcome to the Ithaca College Library. Our mission is to enhance teaching and learning at Ithaca College through the provision of flexible, diverse, and user-centered information services and resources.

Here are a few things that you might not know you can do at the Library:

  1. Do you need help researching? You have your own personal librarian! Schedule a meeting with a librarian.  Additionally, librarians are available until 6 pm EST Monday to Thursday, and Sunday 2-6 pm. On the library's homepage, look for the Ask a Librarian tab on the right side of the screen.

  2. The Multimedia Services Desk on the 3rd floor was closed this summer; it will be made into a student "Library Lounge."  If you would like to borrow a film from the library, look it up in our catalog (you can use the FILM tab on the Library's homepage), sign into your Library Account & request it.  You can pick it up at the Circulation/Reserves Desk (to the left as you enter the library).  You can also find the VIDEO number on the catalog record and ask for it that way.  We have a video demonstrating the DVD request process.

  3. If we don’t have full-text access to a book or article, we will try to get it for you through our Interlibrary Loan service.  You can now access your ILL Account in the Library Account in the upper right corner of the library's homepage.  We have a video demonstrating the ILL process.

  1. Not sure where to start?  Choose a Library Guide from the Guide tab on the library home page.  We gather together a variety of resources on a particular subject.

  1. Citing right can be challenging.  We have a Citation Help link in the middle of our homepage with guidance.  Cathy Michael uses Zotero and can help you get started.  Laura Kuo, our Health Sciences Librarian, can help you with a similar service, Mendeley.  We're teaching a SLI class on it (September 29th at noon); you can register to join us!

  1. Do you read the New York Times?  Ithaca College has a campus wide subscription.  You have to “claim a pass” annually.  We have a guide for that, of course!

  1. If you’ve not tried our ebook collection, Ebook Central, you can search across the content of over 180,000 online books! Find it under “E” on the Databases tab of the Library’s homepage.

  1. There is an easy way to find statistics on businesses, industries, and social sciences.  Definitely try our database Statista if you need stats.

  1. Looking for international news?  Try Nexis Uni (LexisNexis). Cathy can help you become a super-searcher by using search commands.

You can always find the current library hours at the top of the library's homepage.  If you click on the calendar icon you can see the whole month.
